Landau a. d. Isar
Situated at the junction of two major traffic arteries, namely the B20 federal highway and the A92 motorway, is the hilltop town of Landau, a very special part of Lower Bavaria. Coming from the motorway or the B20, you first pass through the industrial area which, in addition to numerous stores catering to daily needs such as Aldi, Schlecker, Müller, Lidl, Penny or the Dänisches Bettenlager, also houses a number of market-leading companies with state-of-the-art production technology. One such is Dräxlmaier GmbH, which stands for automotive innovation when it comes to electrical systems and exclusive interiors. >>
Dingolfing
In a geographically prominent area on the banks of the Isar, the town of Dingolfing is not just a modern industrial centre in eastern Bavaria, but also a relatively small, friendly place with many cosy corners and a history of more than 750 years. Famous during the Middle Ages because of its coveted cloth, today it is better known for its top exports – the BMW Series 5, 6 and 7, which have been manufactured at the BMW site in Dingolfing since the 1970s. A good 1200 autos per day are produced there by around 19,000 employees, and in a quality that is tops, as proven by regular independent inspections. Dingolfing >>
In the picturesque triangle between the Danube, the Isar and the Lower Bavarian hill country, nestled in the southern foothills of the Gäuboden plains, is Markt Wallersdorf. Ever since the first humans settled there during the Neolithic period, drawn by the fertile loess soil and the abundancy of nature, this town has been marked more by the “History of the Little People”, rather than by any great historical event. For more than 75 years Wallersdorf has also been home to a very special gem – Loher, the company of luxury interiors. >>
The little town of Markt Pilsting, with its 6000 residents, can claim its history back to the Stone Age. The listed historical market square could probably tell a tale or two, too. >>
Even today, the colours of the Barons von Closen can be seen in the coat of arms of the Lower Bavarian town of Markt Arnstorf. This noble family was responsible for shaping the development of the town up to 1847. The Obere Schloss in particular, with its two ornately decorated staterooms, and the neighbouring Untere Schloss are evocative of the spirit of that time. >>
Boasting an area of 100 km², Eichendorf is the largest municipality in the Free State of Bavaria. “Euchendorf”, as it was called in Old German, can also fall back on a long history. The first official documented reference was by Pope Gregory VII in 1075. Time and again, the town has suffered greatly from various conflicts such as the Landshut War of Succession and the Thirty Years' War. >>
Whether this market town can thank the seven streams that come together there for its name, is a matter for historians. What is certain is that there is more to be seen and experienced in this charming town nestled in the rolling hills with its parish church that can be seen from afar. Especially popular is the well-built network of cycle paths that with the Bockerlbahn Cycle Path and XperRegio attract more than just keen cyclists for tours. Two well-known companies in the canning industry, Fischer and Stangl, are registered here in Simbach, close to the big vegetable growing areas in the fertile heart of Lower Bavaria. >>
